With BMW Motorsport into the year 2008.
BMW Motorsport wishes all its fans and partners a happy new year. Be it Formula One, FIA WTCC or Formula BMW: BMW wants to repeat a successful 2007 season next year.
BMW Motorsport can look back on a successful season. In the World Touring Car Championship, the BMW national teams celebrated a great season finale. By claiming victory in the finale held at Macau, Andy Priaulx secured his third consecutive World Championship title. At the same time, BMW also celebrated its third triumph in the Manufacturers’ Championship. In 2008, the BMW national teams are determined to continue the brand’s unique touring-car racing success story, with their drivers Priaulx (BMW Team UK), Augusto Farfus and Jörg Müller (both BMW Team Germany) as well as Félix Porteiro and Alessandro Zanardi (both BMW Team Italy-Spain).

In the Formula BMW, the Formula BMW World Final held at Valencia represented the season highlight. 35 drivers from all over the world travelled to Valencia to discover who would be the best of them all. In the end, it was Austria’s Philipp Eng who defeated his rivals and can now look forward to a test for the BMW Sauber F1 Team in 2008.

Furthermore, there will be some Formula BMW innovations in 2008: such as the new Formula BMW Europe – a merger of the British and German Formula BMW Championships – which will hold seven of its eight race weekends as part of the support programme of Formula One Grands Prix. Consequently, competitors will contest most of the rounds in front of huge crowds. Furthermore, the Formula BMW USA will be re-named Formula BMW Americas. While, last but not least, there is the Formula BMW Asia, completing the globally successful young-driver support programme of BMW.

At the same time, the BMW Sauber F1 Team is striving for its maiden Formula One win. Having scored 101 World Championship points in the 2007 season, to finish runner-up in the Constructors’ Championship, the two-year ‘build-up’ period now is regarded as completed. The launch of the BMW Sauber F1.08 will be held on 14th January in Munich.

Look forward to another exciting BMW Motorsport season featuring fascinating races, thrilling overtaking manoeuvres and beaming winners all around the world.
