Müller and Farfus in the “Green Hell” for BMW.This coming weekend sees the World Touring Car Championship take a break. Despite this, BMW drivers Jörg Müller and Augusto Farfus will still be in action: at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. |

| The two drivers from BMW Team Germany will swap their BMW 320si WTCC for a Team Schubert Motorsport BMW 320d for the endurance race in the Eifel region of Germany. Sweden’s Fredrik Ekblom and Stian Sørlie from Norway complete the driving line-up.
Sørlie is one of the regular Schubert Motorsport drivers in the BFGoodrich Long-Distance Championship (VLN). All the races in the championship are staged at the Nordschleife (North Loop). Ekblom also has racing experience at the most challenging circuit in the world. In the latest race in the VLN series, Schubert Motorsport’s BMW 320d was able to secure a class victory and 14th place overall at the Nürburgring. Müller has fond memories of the Eifel marathon, at which he was victorious in 2004 with the BMW Motorsport team, and finished runner-up the following year. “It goes without saying that it is a dream to spend a weekend without a WTCC race at a 24-hour race”, says the German. “We can put in very long stints with the diesel. Who knows, perhaps we will pull off a surprise – even if it is not the overall victory. The atmosphere at the ring is amazing. I am really pleased to return again for the first time since 2005.” Farfus is looking forward to his first appearance at the legendary Nordschleife. The Brazilian says: “It is a great honour for me to take part in this prestigious race. It is the most difficult circuit there is, and up until now I have only driven round it in street cars. For this reason, it is all about learning as much as possible for me.” The final starting line-up will be known at 23:30 on Friday, after the second timed practice. The 36th running of the long-distance classic gets underway at 15:00 on Saturday. |
