BMW M3 GT2 scores podium finish at the Nürburgring.
Andy Priaulx and Dirk Müller claimed the first European podium finish for the BMW M3 GT2 in the VLN Endurance Championship. The two BMW works drivers finished the 33rd DMB 250-mile race in second place overall.
The BMW M3 GT2 made its debut at the 41st ADAC Barbarossa Prize at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife just a fortnight ago. Jörg Müller and Augusto Farfus achieved a commendable fourth. Priaulx and Dirk Müller were charged with taking the car to the next level.

The pair started the race from ninth on the grid and consistently worked their way through the field over the course of the 27 race laps in changeable weather conditions. Having covered a good half of the distance, Dirk Müller actually led the race. However, the two BMW drivers ultimately had to settle for finishing second. Victory went to Christian Mamerow and Dirk Werner in their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, who finished just 48.230 seconds ahead of the BMW M3 GT2.

Dirk Müller said: “Without the guys out there on the track we could never have achieved this success. Every lap was different on the Nordschleife today, and the information regarding wet sections was extremely helpful for us drivers. So I’d just like to say thank you.”

“It was great to race with Dirk for the first time since our foray at the Petit Le Mans in Road Atlanta,” added Priaulx. “We are really pleased to have brought the car home in second. I enjoy the Nordschleife more and more every time. I can’t wait to race here again.”

Priaulx will first return to familiar territory: next up at the start of November is the penultimate race weekend of the 2009 World Touring Car Championship in Okayama, Japan. The series draws to a close three weeks later in Macau.
