Formula BMW goes new ways.
The successful globalisation of Formula BMW will reach new levels in 2008, when Formula BMW Germany and the Formula BMW UK Championship merge to form Formula BMW Europe.
The new series will largely be staged within the support programme for the FIA Formula One World Championship. Mario Theissen is delighted about the restructuring: "For us Formula BMW Europe marks the next step in the internationally oriented Formula BMW concept. It means we can offer drivers and teams a platform which, in this format, is a first for any junior race series and which will allow them to profit from our Formula One involvement. Starting with the 2008 season, our three Formula BMW championships in Asia, America and Europe will see us represented internationally in all the key motor sport markets."

Formula BMW 2008 will also take a new shape in America: Formula BMW USA is becoming Formula BMW Americas. The last few years have seen many drivers from South America and Central America competing in the USA junior series. Theissen explains: "In this way we are serving the growing interest from the bordering regions – in this case South America. South American youngsters comprised more than one-third of the entry in last year's October scholarship course."
