FB02 represents safety and equal opportunity.
The safety of the drivers is of the highest priority in Formula BMW. The state-of-the art FB02 vehicle has been setting the standards in this regard since 2002.
The monocoque, propelled to speeds up to 230 km/h by a 140 bhp engine, exceeds the safety requirements of its class and introduces Formula One standards. BMW Motorsport has specifically developed the Formula Safety Seat FORS for Formula BMW. Additionally, the HANS safety system is obligatory for all drivers.

The talent of the drivers is at the very centre of Formula BMW. Therefore, equal chances for all is a key concept of the series. The vehicles can only be modified in certain areas. The set-up variations are just as restricted as are the days of testing. The aim is to let the skills of the driver behind the wheel of the FB02 decide success or failure, not the budget.
