Müller still with sights on title.
Jörg Müller has set himself one goal for the season finale of the World Touring Car Championship: the BMW Team Germany driver wants to close the gap in the drivers' championship and win the title. Müller laid the foundations for a successful final surge during the last race weekend at Brands Hatch, where he won the first race and picked up a further five points in the second race.
These 15 World Championship points from Great Britain considerably improved the German's points tally, and he now lies fifth in the overall standings. He is still 22 points behind the leader, but Müller still has his sights set on first place and is focussing exclusively on the drivers at the top of the table – it would make no sense for the 38-year-old to aim for third place: "If I were to think that way, there would be no point in me driving in the championship! My goal is most definitely the title," says Müller, underlining his motivation to end the WTCC season at the top of the overall standings.

The BMW driver is certainly not short of experience: "This is my fourth year in the World Championship, and I have actually been up there fighting for the title every season," says the runner-up from 2006. "If I did not have this goal for this year, then I would be in the wrong place. The championship is clearly my goal, although it will be extremely difficult." He is up against some tough competition – not least from within his own ranks: Andy Priaulx from BMW Team UK is currently third overall with 49 points, six points ahead of Müller, who is just four points ahead of BMW Team Italy-Spain driver Félix Porteiro.

Regardless of this, Jörg Müller remains optimistic about his chances of ending the season on top: "That is my bet," says the former Formula One test driver. However, there are another ten races at five different venues before a final conclusion can be reached. Only then could the German's perfect headline appear in the press: "Finally, Jörg Müller is World Touring Car Champion."
